Position: School Chef and Kitchen Manager
Employment: School Year (Mid- August-June)
Position Overview:
The Islesboro Central School Chef and Kitchen Manager is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious, appealing meals for students and staff while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment. This position is ideal for a creative, organized chef who enjoys working with students.
Responsibilities include preparation of breakfast and lunches that meet the rigorous standards of the Maine School Nutrition Standards Program. When possible, meals should include fresh, seasonal, and sustainably sourced ingredients. This position must work within an established budget and maintain accurate food and supply inventories. This position is also responsible for ordering, receiving, storing, and properly rotating food and kitchen supplies. Strong communication and collaboration skills are a must.
Qualifications include professional culinary training or an equivalent practical cooking experience. Preference will be given to prior experience. This individual must be able to work independently as well as part of a team and make sound decisions with limited resources.

Compensation will be competitive based on experience and qualifications. Health insurance is provided through MEA Benefits Trust.
